OUR STORY
I, personally, and the team at El Garbo have always been interested in widening the continuum of the way art can be produced and consumed in the country. Be it the knowledge gained from world travel, being exposed to different forms of art while growing up or constantly studying new styles of artistic expression- the inspirations have been varied, however, the goal has been singular- to give art a larger-than-life, almost surreal expression.
Thus, when we began our journey in building the space and giving it an identity and an expression in 2016, I went back to my mental drawing board and archives to rediscover all the objects and events in time that have left a profound impact on me. Recreations, each homage, the rooms dedicated to maestros of their craft, personal paraphernalia- all reflect the multiple inspirations that built the idea for El Garbo.
Building a fantastic design team was next- I began working with the most skilled artisans and craftsmen this country has to offer, for they alone could bring my vision to life and truly make it unmatchable. With the space completed in 2017 and 60 stunning exhibits on display, we are proud to have built it to our taste and have had buyers, friends and influencers continue to champion our hard work. Here's hoping for many more chapters in our story as we continue to thrive and grow.

Every coveted item at El Garbo has been made in India and handcrafted by a carefully curated, talented team of sculptors, weavers, restorers, artists and craftsmen that are extremely passionate about art & design. Once the design has been decided upon, it is then conveyed to these master artisans and one exhibit is built for the space. Once sold- the piece is recreated again especially for the buyer, with interesting, personal customizations added if the buyer so chooses.Only a few numbers of each item are made so as to retain their exclusivity and one-of-a-kind status. The values of immaculate precision and attention to detail go into the making of every piece, ensuring that every spoke, nerve and grain are in place. Thus, the completion time for every exhibit might be different, but we always ensure that the wait is worth it.
